Privacy

What this site knows about you.

Almost nothing, and none of it reaches me. This page says what happens anyway, because "we value your privacy" is not an answer.

The short version

There is no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no pixel, no heatmap, no session recorder. I do not know how many people read this, which page they came from, or how long they stayed. I have no mailing list. I set no cookies and store nothing in your browser.

Three other companies see something when you load a page: the host, the font service, and the comment system. What each of them gets is set out below.

Hosting

Netlify

The site is hosted by Netlify, which serves the files to your browser. Like every web host, its servers record the request: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser and operating system, and the time. I do not read those logs and I have built nothing on top of them.

The live prices on this site come from Yahoo Finance, but your browser never talks to Yahoo. The request goes to trantofire.au, and Netlify's server fetches the data on the site's behalf. Yahoo sees Netlify. It does not see you.

Typefaces

Google Fonts

The two typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. Your browser requests them directly from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. This is the one third-party request that happens on every page whether you interact with anything or not.

It could be avoided by serving the font files from this domain instead. That is on my list rather than done, and I would rather say so than leave it out.

Comments

FastComments

Comment threads are run by FastComments, a paid service from WinrickLabs LLC in the United States. Their code loads only when you scroll down to a comment section, so a reader who never reaches the bottom of a page never contacts them at all.

If you post a comment, FastComments stores what you wrote and whatever name and email you gave. They keep an email address indefinitely so they can tell you about replies, and you can remove it yourself by editing or deleting your account with them. They do not sell reader data and they put no advertising in the threads.

Your email address is never shown publicly and never reaches me as a mailing list. I can see it in the moderation dashboard, alongside the comment, and that is the extent of it.

Full details are in the FastComments privacy policy.

Everything else

Links, and asking me things.

  • Links to other sites

Where I link to a book, a paper, a video or a fund page, that site has its own privacy policy and I have no control over it. Nothing on this site is embedded from elsewhere, so following a link is a decision you make rather than something that happens to you.

  • Getting your data removed

For a comment, ask FastComments through their account page, or ask me in a reply and I will delete it from the moderation dashboard. There is nothing else of yours for me to hold.

If you want something removed or want to know what is held, write to tran@trantofire.au.

This page describes how the site actually works rather than covering every legal base. I am not a lawyer. Last updated 28 July 2026, and it will be updated whenever something on the list above changes.
